R2D2 Model

 Visual learners

Most of our learners today are visuals, which means they need things to be displayed to enable them to see so they could do or represent.
Visual learners want to see pictures, concept maps, colors, videos, charts, graphics, simulation, schematics, flow charts, and animations. Their representations can be part of a learning portfolio that learners revisit in later courses or year within a program of study.
Virtual tours might be relevant for displaying and engaging in the content in fields such as geography, history, health and religious studies.

*“Visual learners usually:

·         Like to read.
·         Are good spellers.
·         Memorize things by seeing them on paper.
·         Are organized.
·         Would rather watch, than talk or do.
·         Have good handwriting.
·         Notice details.
·         Remember faces better than names.
·         Have trouble following verbal directions.
·         Are easily distracted by noise.
·         Doodle on their paper.”

Phases of the R2D2 Model

Students nowadays live in technological world. They expect 24/7 access to technology and support. Therefore, instructors make sure to engage their students by using web 2.0 technology tools that transform their levels into professionalism. Instructors analyze the needs of their students, select the tools and materials, and evaluate the media effectiveness. Instructors use best practices for on-line teaching, in response to fascinating education and technology related trends, a practical model was created "(R2D2)- that should help online instructors integrate various learning activities with appropriate technologies for effective online learning for a diverse array of e-learners" (Bonk& Zhang, 2006).

When we use the R2D2 (a cycle of read, reflect, display and do) we need to evoke the Technology Pedagogical Content knowledge (TPACK) model as well as a model of technology integration called the SAMR (substitute, augmentation, modification, and redefinition); which help us know what could we do with the web 2.0 tool, or how could we use it in the classroom.
